a few of my favourite things

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel a little bit sad?
You've got your health, good friends & family but you just don't feel 100%?

Well I do and I think everyone does.

On days like that all I need is a few of my favourite things.

People who haven't watched 500 Days Of Summer usually expect it to be some soppy romantic comedy - I swear it's not!

It's so unique. I really wish there were more movies in the world like this.
With the amazing Zooey Deschanel & Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the main actors why wouldn't you want to watch it?!

I think one of the first lines in the movie is the voice over guy & it's 'This is not a love story - this is a story about love' or something like that. And that kind of sums up 500 Days Of Summer.

I'm finding it difficult to articulate my love for this film... All I can say is it never fails to make me happy.
(I kind of sound like an advert but it's hard not to when you're talking about the things you love the most!)

This book is so underrated in my opinion.

The main character is a girl called Kitty (love the name!) and it's basically her story of growing up with a somewhat dysfunctional family.

The book begins with present day Kitty who has a husband and is pregnant but the majority of the novel is in the point of view of eleven - to - sixteen year old Kitty.
It shows how much she changes as a person through the years because of her experiences.

I've lent this book to some of my friends but none of them have enjoyed it as much as I do. I think this is because Kitty is like my fiction sister! I've had so many of the same thoughts as her and I just feel like she is me. Or I am her? I don't know!

The author Sophie Dahl (supermodel and grandchild of roald dahl) is so talented at writing. Every description is beautiful and I think this will be one of my favourite books for a long time.

Your favourite TV show and favourite snack...
Isn't that the best remedy for a bad day?

I am currently loving Gossip Girl.
I started the series five years ago but never got past season 3.
Now I'm addicted and watch at least one episode a night... oops.

And you know what makes everything Gossip Girl better?

To put it simply if you give me galaxy chocolate I will love you forever.

(Notice how it's just the galaxy wrapper in the photos above and there isn't actually any chocolate... because I can't help but eat it all as soon as I buy it!)

Hmmm after talking about a few of my favourite things I suddenly want them!
I guess that's my weekend sorted then.

the autumn tag

hello autumn

I haven't blogged in so long I actually forget how to start.
No seriously I've been staring at my laptop screen for 10 minutes trying to think of a good way to say 'Hey, I'm sorry I haven't posted in ages, I've been meaning to work on that but well now I'm going to do the Autumn tag'.

Was that a good way of saying it? Yeah I didn't think so...

Anyway terrible introduction aside, I'm really happy Autumn is here (or on it's way at least).
I live for Autumn and Winter because I love everything cosy and warm!
So since I'm off school sick and I'm not really in the mood to take photos I thought 'WHY NOT DO AN AUTUMN TAG WHERE I CAN JUST GET PHOTOS FROM WE HEART IT TO MAKE MY RAMBLINGS LOOK PRETTY???'
And here I am typing away.

Question Time:

An obvious favourite thing is the cold weather. The air feels fresher and you can wear pretty gloves/scarves/hats.

Autumn is baking season and who doesn't love to bake?!
I also love to snuggle up and watch my current favourite TV show (gossip girl!)

Perfect mornings

Hands down hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Hot chocolate

I'm not a huge candle fan. It's not that I don't love candles - cause I do - it's just I wouldn't spend my money on them. I usually just take whatever candle my mum buys. This is a pretty boring, common answer but I love Cinnamon-y, Christmas -y candles!

I'd love to say a red/berry lipstick but I've always been quite afraid of dark colours on my lips! This year I definitely want to get out of my comfort zone and buy a few deep red lipsticks.
Therefore I don't really have one lipstick that stands out as being the best for autumn - so am I cheating if I say a lip balm? Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me.

Baby lips

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturiser for the face.
I'd love to try Soap & Glory's Hand Food as I've heard only good things about it.

Neutral matte eyeshadows and metallic golds/browns - I go darker in Autumn/Winter.

Taylor Swift's album Red was released last October and everytime I listen to it it brings me back to last autumn and I feel how I did last year - does that make sense? Like when some songs bring you back to when you first heard them? So I love listening to Taylor Swift (Okay when do I not?!)
I also love Gabrielle Aplin, Nina Nesbitt and some Regina Spektor.

Boots, Jumpers, Satchels, Tights, Dresses...

Probably a new winter coat.
Oh and I really want fairy lights for my room this year!

I love to go shopping at night. Excuse my cheesiness but I find it so lovely walking around the shops in hope of buying something new - often drinking a hot chocolate, in your favourite outfit and with good company. I especially love shopping in Autumn/Winter because it's dark outside early and there is usually pretty fairy lights!

I tag my friend Eleanor who just started a blog - go check it out!
I also tag everyone single one you reading this (I actually wasn't tagged by anyone, haha I just thought I'd give it a go!)

Do you love Autumn/Fall?

perfect school-friendly nails | NOTD

My school is very strict about nail polish - basically you aren't allowed it on.
Of course there are days when you get away with wearing it but instead of taking the risk I've found the perfect 'french manicure' pink that is so simple teachers won't tell you to remove it (I hope!)

Essie Muchi Muchi

I've definitely mentioned this nail polish in a favourites post before but I've recently become a bit obsessed with it.
One layer is perfect for school - shiny and pretty but not obvious.
Two layers (which I have on in the pictures) is great for the weekend.

Simple but effective, I think!
